Taking a backseat to no one in my car

My first car was a white 1978 Fiat X1/9 with a black pop-off hardtop and an 8-track player.
My parents bought it for $1,700 from a used-car lot off Bell Road when I graduated from high school in 1983. I loved it because it was cute and zippy. My dad said he loved it because there was no way I could have sex in the backseat. (There was no backseat.)
To me, the two-seater represented independence and freedom. For the first time, I could come and go as I pleased, without having to borrow the keys
